Ten years ago, the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver guided by the vision statement “Grounded in biblical truth, providing sound theological training, nurturing workers for this generation, passing on the mission of shepherding and evangelism, and fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission”, has started realizing the prayers and sacred trust of a generation of spiritual pioneers who were of one Spirit.

Over the past decade, this vision has flourished like a mustard seed: the teachers “correctly handling the word of truth”, poured out passion and love, upholding the school’s spirit of purity and shepherding. They have carefully nurtured workers for God’s Kingdom, reviving and igniting every soul called by Him!

Today, the diligent students of the school are being “transformed by the renewing of their minds”. With encouragement and blessing, they are being sent forth as the salt and light of this generation, proclaiming unchanging grace and truth in a rapidly changing world.

We pray that in the years to come, the school will continue to be led by this vision, that the teachers may receive grace upon grace, and the students strength upon strength—abundantly graced, bearing much fruit for the glory of God!

Ordinary people and a modest campus, carry an extraordinary mission and calling.

In the eyes of the world, the students of the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver may appear to be ordinary men and women. They do not possess great wealth or fame, nor are they adorned with impressive worldly achievements. The campus itself embraces simplicity, offering a serene contrast to the grandeur of large, prominent institutions. Yet it is precisely within this modest building in Vancouver that God has called and gathered a community of men and women who hunger for truth, who willingly lay down their lives, and who long to be shaped by His hand.

They do not pursue recognition, but respond to God’s call. They do not seek to build careers, but to submit to the Lord’s commission. Over these ten years, the Lord has raised up and sent out His laborers from among these ordinary ones. They have been sent out to churches both great and small, faithfully serving and bearing fruit for His kingdom. In this piece of land where young pastors are few, they have risen to become a new generation of faithful servants.

My heart is filled with deep gratitude that God, in His grace, is pleased to use ordinary people like us to accomplish His extraordinary mission. May the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver remain ever humble, be a faithful vessel in the Lord’s hand, continually shaping workers who seek after God’s own heart.

At the beginning of 2024, our family relocated from the United States to Vancouver in pursuit of theological studies. We came with a measure of uncertainty and unease, mingled with questions and bewilderment. Yet along this journey of learning, each day and every step has been marked by the gracious support, help, and encouragement of the faculty, staff, and fellow students at the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver. As newcomers to Canada, we have come to cherish this care as a priceless blessing.

CCST Vancouver is not only an academic institution for the pursuit of knowledge, but also a garden where spiritual life is nurtured. As Francis Schaeffer said, the clearest mark of spiritual maturity is love for one another. Indeed, CCST Vancouver has been a spiritual home where we have tangibly experienced this love. In this place, we have witnessed self-denial and humble service, virtues so rare in today’s world yet immeasurably precious.

On this tenth anniversary, I earnestly pray that the Lord will continue to use CCST Vancouver mightily, that it may be a blessing to churches and this generation, and that His glory may shine ever more brightly through this ministry.

Hello everyone, my name is Passion Cheung, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver on its tenth anniversary. As the saying goes, “One plants the trees but others enjoy the shade”. We are deeply grateful that, under God’s guidance, a Chinese theological school was established in Vancouver ten years ago. Over the past decade, it has trained many workers for North American Chinese churches, enabling the gospel to continue spreading throughout the Chinese community in this region.

During my years of study, I am very grateful for the devoted guidance of my teachers, helping me gradually to integrate theology into daily life. This integration, in turn, has deepened my personal relationship with God. Theology is a discipline of seeking. When approached with faith in God, it illuminates the meaning of our own existence and fosters a deeper appreciation for the greatness of God’s creation.

Dear CCST Vancouver,

The past ten years have witnessed the Lord’s grace and guidance upon this piece of land. Although I have only studied at CCST Vancouver for just over a year, this journey has already deeply shaped my life. From the very first day I stepped on campus, I have been equipped with truth in class, comforted through prayer. I learned to intercede and support one another walking alongside teachers and fellow students. This year of study is more than gaining knowledge—it has been a process of renewal and transformation. Especially in times of illness and struggle, I have been reminded again and again that the Lord’s grace is sufficient and His Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Looking back, my heart is filled with gratitude; looking ahead, I am full of hope. May CCST Vancouver continue to be helf in the Lord’s gracious hand, becoming a spiritual home for many, equipping workers after God’s own heart to serve faithfully, witness Christ, and bring glory to His name!

At the 10th anniversary of the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver, my heart overflows with gratitude! In a world where the proportion of Chinese Christians and pastors is relatively low, the school carries the vital mission of equipping Chinese pastors. Over the past ten years, the devoted teaching and care of the instructors have become both a blessing and a lasting mark of spiritual growth for many students. I believe that your dedication and sacrifice are surely remembered by our Heavenly Father.

I have been at CCST Vancouver for over a year, and my greatest gain is not the accumulation of knowledge, but a deeper awareness of my own limitations, coupled with a more tangible experience of the abundant love of our Heavenly Father. Two years ago, my beloved wife, who was also my spiritual mentor, rested in peace. In the most difficult moments, God used my studies and service at the school to let me experience His love in a wondrous and real way. He gently led me out of my own foolishness and isolation, releasing me from the grip of loneliness and pain, and inviting me to open my heart fully to His embrace. Praise be to the Lord, for through His love I now behold anew the wonder of life and the glory of creation, overflowing with joy and gratitude!

Praise and gratitude, inspired by the soul and moved by the spirit, flow from my heart as I celebrate the 10th anniversary of CCST Vancouver. The past three years of studies have provided me with opportunities to experience challenges and comforts, stresses and smiles, desperation and hope. The learning journey brings me spiritual maturity and speechless friendship. Praise the Lord for His everlasting grace in ways that I do not deserve, and my humble gratitude to the teachers and staff for their guidance, inspiration, encouragement, and support.

Dear Lord, thanks for all that you have been doing in CCST and in my life.

Congratulations to the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver on its 10th Anniversary! I am deeply grateful to the school for giving me the opportunity to study theology. I sincerely thank the teachers and staff for their dedication and guidance, which have deepened my understanding of our Lord. I have also become more aware of my own humbleness and  limitations, and have come to realize how richly blessed and favored I am.

These past few years at CCST Vancouver have been among the most earnest, joyful, and peaceful days of my life. I give heartfelt thanks to my Lord! May the teachers, staff, and students continue to receive grace upon grace, strength upon strength, and abundant blessings from God. Thankful for the 10th Anniversary of CCTS Vancouver! I am deeply grateful for the teaching and dedication of all the professors and coworkers at the seminary. I thank God for leading me to CCTS Vancouver to study the MTS program as a part-time local student. I would like to share two “first-time” experiences:

1. My first time joining the seminary retreat. There I got to know several classmates, and afterwards we had the opportunity to encourage one another and grow together in small groups. This has been very important to me. Although we have all been very busy handling a huge load of assignments and often have to rush back to the office to work right after class—facing great challenges—we have experienced the Lord’s grace every time.

2. My first time preaching. I had to overcome language barriers, and it was completely by God’s grace that my heart was filled with peace.

Finally, I hope that God will continue to use CCTS Vancouver to train more of His servants to serve Chinese churches and ministries. All glory be to God!

Thank the Lord—before I knew it, I had already entered my third year of study at the seminary. Looking back on these years, my heart is filled with gratitude. Without God’s call and His grace, we would have no strength to walk this path.

Studying at the seminary is not only about gaining theological knowledge, but about being formed in a theological vision. Conversations with teachers on different theological perspectives have helped me learn to understand the faith in a Christ-centred way. The seminary is more than an academic institution; it is a community where believers build one another up. I am thankful for the companions I have met here—though we come from different backgrounds, we share the same calling from God. In this generation, faith faces many challenges and the church experiences many tensions, yet we are not alone, for we firmly believe that God’s grace is with us, just as Scripture says: “My grace is sufficient for you.”

As the seminary celebrates its 10th anniversary, may all glory be to God. Over the past decade, God has used CCTS Vancouver to equip and nurture many faithful servants, sending them into different fields of ministry. May each of us students hold fast to our first calling and, by the Lord’s grace, continue to run with perseverance.

I rejoice at the wonderful occasion of my alma mater’s 10th anniversary, and my heart is filled with boundless gratitude and joy.

As the saying goes, “It takes ten years to sharpen a sword”. The sword of The Canadian Chinese School of Theology Vancouver has now been honed and ready. I personally experienced the school’s classes held at three locations in Richmond, witnessed the weekly worship assemblies, prayer meetings, annual fundraising runs, the setting up of the library. I also experienced the teachers’ attentive and engaging small-class teaching, as well as two years of online learning during the pandemic. So many memories remain vivid, as if they happened just yesterday.

Even after graduation, the school has continued to care for the spiritual growth and ministries of its alumni, and our connection with our alma mater remains steadfast. During my time at school, I am deeply grateful for the teachers’ instruction in truth and their exemplary lives, which have become a model for my service to God and shepherding of His flock today.

On the occasion of the school’s 10th anniversary, I pray that God would guide, uphold, and bless CCST Vancouver in achieving all its educational goals and vision, raising up more faithful servants of the Kingdom who can teach and shepherd others.

Warm congratulations to CCST Vancouver on its 10th anniversary!  Over these ten years, through seasons of challenge and trial, by the Lord’s grace the seminary has borne abundant fruit. We remember the early days of its founding, established by faith, grounded in Scripture, and devoted to the training of the Lord’s servants. Across this decade the pulpit has flourished, gifted teachers have gathered, and many students have been formed and sent out, spreading a fragrant witness far and wide.

At this tenth anniversary, it is indeed a fitting moment to give thanks and praise to the Lord, and also a timely call to press on. May the seminary continue to uphold the holy Word, honour sound theology, and nurture many capable workers, so that the light of truth may shine across Canada and to the nations. May faculty and students serve the Lord with one heart and faithful devotion, writing new chapters to His glory.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of CCTS Vancouver, my heart is filled with gratitude to the Lord for His grace in providing a place where we can be equipped and built up. As I look back on my days at my alma mater, I recall with thankfulness many beautiful memories: from classroom discussions with professors to worshiping God together with classmates in chapel. These moments have become a precious treasure in my life.

During my years of study at CCTS, my horizons were broadened, and I experienced significant growth in theological understanding, spiritual life, and ministry. It is my prayer that, in the years to come, CCTS Vancouver will continue to enjoy God’s favour and raise up many more workers after God’s own heart for His kingdom.

Feeling at home with CCST

In gratitude, I express my profound appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the Canadian Chinese School of Theology. My deepest thoughts and heart desires are valued by God; how wonderful and awesome can it be? Close to retirement, my desire to equip myself and seek to serve Him was blessed by Him. He has enabled me to fully experience His grace, as exemplified in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you; for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” He has empowered me with wisdom and strength to complete a Master’s degree in theology.

CCST is a warm and special community; true to its teachers, classmates, and fellow workers, it is a loving environment. Regardless of the size of the building, this community is loving, and we have managed to share quality time with learning, prayers, sharing, fellowships, praising, worshipping, lunching, running, retreating, hiking, exploring, laughing, and much more. Nearly six years in CCST, learning, meeting up, and connecting with many in different classes and learning environments. Thank you for everything; your testimonies encourage and shine! Overwhelmed with grace and love, let us strive together in service and praise to God.  May He receive the highest praise and glory. Amen.
